We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and positive Head Coach to lead our summer swim team for the 2027 season.

Our team competed in Division 14 during the 2026 season and is a vibrant community of 110+ swimmers ranging in age from 4–18. We are looking for a coach who can continue to build a strong team culture while helping swimmers of all ages and abilities develop their skills, confidence, and love of swimming.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will bring previous NVSL swim coaching experience (preferred) along with the energy, leadership, and organization needed to manage a large summer swim program.

Most importantly, we are looking for someone who understands that summer swim should be both developmental and fun. Our Head Coach should be able to challenge competitive swimmers to reach their goals while creating a positive, encouraging environment where every swimmer—from our youngest beginners to our experienced 18-year-olds—feels like an important part of the team.

Responsibilities

The Head Coach will:

- Plan and lead engaging, age-appropriate practices for swimmers ages 4–18
- Provide instruction in stroke technique, starts, turns, finishes, and racing strategies
- Support swimmers at a wide range of skill and competitive levels
- Foster a fun, positive, inclusive, and team-focused environment
- Prepare swimmers and lineups for dual meets and championship meets
- Encourage sportsmanship, teamwork, confidence, and personal improvement
- Lead and mentor assistant and junior coaches
- Work collaboratively with team representatives and parent volunteers
- Communicate effectively with swimmers, parents, coaches, and team leadership
- Help create the traditions, enthusiasm, and team spirit that make summer swim special
- Maintain swimmer safety and appropriate supervision at all practices and meets

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who have:

- Previous competitive swim coaching experience
- Strong knowledge of competitive swimming strokes and techniques
- Experience working with children and teenagers
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- The ability to motivate swimmers while maintaining a positive coaching style
- The ability to manage a large team with swimmers of varying ages and abilities
- Current or ability to obtain required CPR, First Aid, pool operator, and applicable coaching/safety certifications
- Understanding of NVSL data and meet logistics
- Able to pass a background check
- Availability for the entire swim season which runs through the end of July 

Competitive swimming experience and previous experience with a summer swim league are strongly preferred.
