Job Title Head Swim Coach - 2026 Season
Job Description

The Hamlet Swim Club (HSC) is hiring a Head Swim Coach for the 2026 Northern Virginia Swim League (NVSL) Season.  The dates of employment will be May 23-July 26, 2026. Hamlet is a vibrant, friendly community looking for a dynamic head coach to lead a team of approximately 225 swimmers. Experienced head coaches as well as seasoned assistant coaches looking to make the leap into a head coaching role are encouraged to apply.

Job description:

- Design practice workouts that enable swimmers to meet their goals, with particular emphasis on strokes, starts and turns, keeping swimmer statistics and providing regular feedback to swimmers on their progress.
- Lead all swim practices held throughout the season.
- Seed Saturday NVSL sanctioned Division meets, Divisional Relays and Divisionals.
- Supervise, schedule and manage the assistant coaches and junior coaches and their development.
- Communicate with parents and families regularly about swimmer development and team expectations; foster friendly and open communication.
- Coordinate and execute the set-up for home swim meets on Monday evenings and Saturday mornings.
- Promote good sportsmanship and team spirit among team members with an emphasis on fun and inclusion.
- Foster team spirit by attending and developing team social activities.
- Adhere to all safety and health guidelines set by national and local governments, the NVSL, as well as those put in place by the Hamlet Board and Crystal Aquatics.
- Completion of Concussion Training provided by NVSL (online module).
- Any other reasonable duties not specified above as directed by the team representatives.

In conjunction with these duties and responsibilities, we anticipate that you will conduct yourself in a professional and appropriate manner with swimmers, parents, pool members, and staff.

Additionally, HSC requires that all HSC head coaches working with children at the pool must have a current lifeguard certification and CPR for professional rescue.
