The Lake Braddock Lakers, a member of the Northern Virginia Swimming League (NVSL), is seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and motivational Head Coach for the upcoming 2026 summer season. Our community-based team of 160+ athletes includes swimmers ages 5–18 of all skill levels, from beginners to All-Star qualifiers. We are looking for a coach who can foster a fun, positive team environment while developing swimmers’ skills and love of the sport. In 2025 the Lakers competed in NVSL Division 16.
Responsibilities -Plan and lead daily practices for age groups 5–18, focusing on technique, conditioning, and teamwork. -Supervise and mentor lane coaches and volunteer coaches. - Collaborate with the Little Laker Head Coach (our learn-to-swim program). - Provide constructive feedback, goal setting, and encouragement to swimmers. - Prepare meet entries for dual meets, Relay Carnival, and Divisional Championships. - Lead the team at all practices, meets, and team events (pep rallies, social activities, etc.). - Communicate effectively with coaches, swimmers, parents, and team representatives. - Uphold team traditions, good sportsmanship, and a positive atmosphere for all athletes.
Qualifications - Prior competitive swim coaching experience (NVSL head coaching experience is highly preferred.) - Competitive swimming experience. - Strong knowledge of competitive swimming techniques and NVSL rules and procedures. - Ability to inspire and motivate swimmers of all ages and abilities. - Current lifeguard certification and pool operator license (or willingness to obtain before season).
Season & Commitment - Season runs late May through August 1, 2026. - Practices held afternoons (May 26- June 17) and weekday mornings (June 18-July 24). - Attendance at all NVSL and developmental meets. - Attendance required at team events. - Weekly meetings with coaching staff and with team representatives.
Compensation - Competitive pay based on experience.
