Job Title Assistant Head Coach - 2025 Season
Job Description
The Hunter Mill Swim Team is seeking an Assistant Head Coach for the 2025 summer season.
Last summer, Hunter Mill competed in the Northern Virginia Swimming League (NVSL) Division
6 and swam B Meets in the Vienna Developmental League. We have approximately 175
swimmers of all skill levels, including approximately 25 Mini Sharks. 

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic assistant head coach with a passion for
working with swimmers of all ability levels. Working with the Head Coach, the Assistant Head
Coach will focus on stroke development and technique while fostering team spirit and a positive
team culture. Our practices usually begin the Tuesday after Memorial Day, with the season
commencing at the end of July. 

Assistant Head Coach Responsibilities:
- Attend all practices, meets (Time Trials, 5 Saturday A meets, 5 Monday night B meets,
Boys vs Girls, Lollipop Meet, Divisional Relays, All-Star Relays, Divisionals, Individual
All-Stars) and official team events (Friday Night Pep Rally’s and End of Season Swim
Banquet).
- Instruct swimmers in correct stroke, turn, start, and finish techniques.
- Offer constructive feedback to swimmers during and after meets.
- Assist with teaching the junior coaches. Provide mentoring for the junior coaches while
at practices and meets.
- Work closely with the Head Coach and Team Reps by maintaining effective
communication.
- Facilitate team cheers and lead pep rallies.
- Help build a positive team culture.
- Help create and implement daily practices for varying age groups.
- Work with Head Coach to help prepare for competitive Saturday "A" meets by assisting
with the teams line-ups.  

Qualifications:
- Prior assistant coaching experience or extensive junior coaching experience.
- Strong knowledge of NVSL rules and procedures.
- Ability to work with the Head Coach to develop practice schedules for varying age
groups.
- Excellent communication skills with children, parents, volunteers, and coaching staff.
- Lifeguard Certification and Pool Operator Certification (or the ability to obtain them).
