Country Club Hills Coach Job Description Summer 2025 https://cchsharks.com/ The Country Club Hills (CCH) Sharks swim team is accepting applications for the Head Coach and Assistant Coach positions for their 2025 summer swim season. The CCH swim team is comprised of approximately 160 swimmers ranging from 4 to 18 years of age. CCH is located in the heart of Fairfax City near Daniels Run Elementary School. The CCH swim team most recently competed in NVSL Division 10 in the summer of 2024. Applicants need to be available from mid-May through the last week of July 2025. We are looking for a Head Coach and one Assistant Coach with the following qualifications: - Coaching experience in the NVSL summer swim league; - Coaching experience with other swim organizations (e.g. winter swim, high schools, etc.); - Role model for good sportsmanship, fairness, and friendliness; - Ability to mentor other coaches (e.g. Assistant and Junior); - Ability to keep swimmers engaged while focusing on stroke-work, technique, and the overall enhancement of each swimmer’s abilities in all four strokes, starts, and turns; - Provide in-water instruction, particularly for our younger swimmers; - Foster a love of swimming and help kids be better swimmers and supportive teammates. Expected tasks include: Plan and run summer swim team practices. Summer swim team practices will start the day after Memorial Day and continue until completion of NVSL Individual All-Star championships the last weekend in July.. While Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) are in session, workouts are afternoon/evenings on Mondays through Fridays (4:30 – 7:45 pm). Starting at the end of the (FCPS) [standard calendar] for the school year (mid-June), workouts shift to mornings Mondays through Fridays (7:45 – 11:00 am) through the end of July. The workout schedule will also include two days of evening workouts for limited participants, Tuesdays and Thursdays (6:00 – 7:00 pm), starting the week FCPS lets out for the school year and continuing through the end of July. The coaches will be expected to arrive before the practices and provide for sufficient time to ready the pool for practice(s); and, after practices, remain on premises for up to half an hour to remove practice materials (e.g. lane lines and flags) and to interact with parents. Create meet sheets; lineups for Dual Meets [A meets], assisted as needed by CCH Team Reps and the CCH Data Coordinator. This is generally a Tuesday afternoon or evening function. Coaches are expected to attend all Dual Meets [A Meets] including the Relay Carnival, Divisionals, and All-Stars (Relays and Individual) to the extent any CCH swimmers are participating; as well as all Developmental Meets [B Meets] and the Woodley Mini-Meet. This schedule is likely to cover every Saturday morning and Monday evening from mid-June to the last Saturday in July, plus two Wednesday evening meets in July, one Thursday evening meet in July, and one Sunday meet in July. Coaches are responsible for the review of disqualifications with applicable swimmers and working on ways to prevent any disqualifications from recurring. Responsible for running appropriate warm-ups; assisting Team Reps with scratches and substitutions in event of injury or no-shows for Dual Meets [A meets]; ensuring that entered swimmers go to the Clerk of Course in a timely manner; and observing and noting individual swims in order to provide swimmers with constructive feedback immediately after swims and at practices. Communicate with the swim team (swimmers and parents) and Team Reps regarding meet preparations, meet results, etc. The coach is encouraged to use and maintain multiple channels of communication (e.g. e-mails, blogs, tweets, etc.). The coaching staff is expected to compose a weekly email to the team on Tuesdays regarding the previous meets and the upcoming week. Act as the key presenter at end of season Awards Dinner (generally on the Saturday night of the NVSL Divisional Meet). Attend and speak to the team at all swim team social events. This shall include pep rallies to occur on select Friday nights as established prior to the start of the season, post Dual Meet luncheons Saturday afternoons, etc., with prior notice by Team Reps.
