Job Title Assistant Head Coach - 2025 Season
Job Description
The Ravensworth Farm Swim Team located in Springfield, VA is currently accepting applications for the position of Assistant Head Coach for the 2025 summer season. The ideal candidate is an experienced assistant coach with a great attitude, strong stroke development and technical skills, a love of summer swim, and an enthusiasm for working with swimmers of all ability levels. 

About Us: 
Ravensworth has a long-standing, successful swim program with approximately 175 swimmers between the ages of 5 and 18. Swimmer experience levels vary from first timers to year-round club swimmers. The Ravens compete in both NVSL (Division 8 in 2024) and Springfield Burke Developmental League (SBDL) meets. Our swim program is focused on helping all swimmers develop their technical skills in a fun, supportive environment.
 
Our 2025 season kicks off in late May with afternoon practices taking place from 4:30-7:30pm. Practices move to mornings from 7:15 – 10:00am once school is out. We’ll finish the season with Divisionals and the team banquet on July 19. More information about us can be found on our team website: https://ravensworthravens.swimtopia.com

Responsibilities include:
  • Attend all practices, meets, and team events (including pep rallies and team-building/social events)
     
  • Assist the Head Coach (our 2024 Head Coach is returning) with developing and leading all team practices
     
  • Provide instruction in stroke development across all age groups
     
  • Work with Head Coach and Deck Coaches to ensure all swimmers receive constructive and encouraging feedback regarding technique and performance during practices and meets
     
  • Assist the Head Coach with managing and mentoring Deck Coaches (16-19 years old)
     
  • Assist Head Coach and Team Reps with meet seeding

Qualifications: 
  • Previous experience as an assistant coach or junior/development coach
     
  • Previous competitive swimming experience
     
  • Experience working with swimmers of all age and ability levels
     
  • Knowledge of NVSL rules and procedures
     
  • Ability to effectively communicate with children, coaching staff, volunteers, and parents
     
  • Maintain or obtain required certifications: CPR/First Aid, Lifeguarding, SafeSport, and Fairfax County Pool Operator (team will assist with obtaining if necessary)
