Are you ready to bring the heat to Highland Park? The Hurricanes are searching for our next Assistant Coach to lead an incredible team of 120 swimmers as we race toward an exciting and memorable 2025 NVSL summer season! This is more than just a coaching gig—it’s your chance to inspire, mentor, and celebrate with an amazing community of swimmers and parents who live for the thrill of summer swim. 

Our swimmers range from seasoned year-round competitors to summer swimming pros and eager newcomers just getting their feet wet. With an awesome head coach, 3-4 junior coaches, and YOU, the Assistant Coach, we’re gearing up to make waves again this season! 

?? What We’re Looking For in a Coach:

• A positive attitude and boundless energy to inspire swimmers of all ages and abilities. 
• 2+ years of coaching experience.
• Experience with competitive club swimmers and developmental swimmers.
• Stellar communication skills to connect with team reps, parents, and pool management.
• Current certifications in CPR/First Aid, Lifeguard/Water Safety, Pool Operator Certificate (we’ll cover your Pool Operator certification!).

?? Your Responsibilities:

• Pre-season swim assessments: Help head coach place swimmers on the Hurricanes or Tropical Storm teams.
• Practices: Lead dynamic practices for the Hurricanes and Tropical Storm swimmers (ages 5-7).
• Workouts and stroke development: Design fun, challenging workouts and provide personalized feedback for all strokes.
• Swim meets: Be there for every meet—time trials, NVSL “A” meets, “B” meets, relay carnivals, divisionals, invitationals, and All-Star events.
• Meet prep: Assist with seeding and entries for meets, especially Saturday A meets and NVSL divisionals.
• End-of-season celebration: Help plan and attend the awards banquet to celebrate our swimmers’ achievements.
• Mentorship: Guide and train junior coaches to build a stronger coaching community.
• Communication: Share weekly updates with team reps and connect with parents and swimmers about their progress.
