Head Swim Coach

Location: Sleepy Hollow Bath & Racquet Club, Falls Church, Virginia

Position Summary

Sleepy Hollow Bath and Racquet Club (SHBR) is seeking a high-energy, kid-friendly, established, and experienced Head Coach for its summer swim team. With almost 200 swimmers of all capabilities, the SHBR Seals recently finished 3-2 in Division 8 in the Northern Virginia Swim League (NVSL). At SHBR, we are equally focused on swimming fast AND having fun.

Head Coach applicants should have a track record of working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and be a highly organized leader with safety always in mind. They should be experienced in coaching swimmers across multiple age groups and skill levels (6 year old beginners to future collegiate swimmers), have a positive attitude of inclusion and teamwork, and have a history of communicating and motivating swimmers to achieve their goals (including having fun!).

Essential Job Tasks

- Create an educational, fun, safe and inviting experience for all swimmers, of all skill sets

- Develop swim team workouts and ensure assistant and junior coaching staff are capable of executing 

- Attend all swim meets, providing developmental feedback and encouragement to all swimmers

- Participate in all swim team activities (including all “A” and “B” meets and practices, and social events)

- Initiate, develop, and maintain positive relationships with swimmers

- Provide mentorship and guidance to coaching staff

- Take the lead on the creation of competitive Saturday “A” meet sheets

- Provide a safe, clean and organized pool area during practices

- Respond to member questions regarding swim programs, policies and procedures

- Interact with parents, swimmers, fellow coaches, and team reps in a professional manner

Education / Experience / Qualifications

- 5 years of swim coaching experience

- 2 years swim coaching experience in the NVSL (Head coaching experience preferred)

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Ability to communicate with parents, team reps, and 

- Coaching membership in good standing with USA Swimming

- Required: Lifeguard and pool operator certified

- Extensive knowledge of NVSL Rules

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience
