  • Week Four Record-Setting Swims!

    Following a Wednesday night of fast and fun relay swims, the NVSL is celebrating the League's first individual record of the season and two new relay records in Week Four meets!

    Congratulation to Mackey Tolar of Highlands Swim!
    Congratulations to Highlands Swim swimmer, Mackey Tolar (14), for her record-breaking swim in the 13-14 Girls 50m Backstroke. She swam a time of 29.18 at Tuckahoe, lowering the previous record of 29.22 set by Erin Kass in 2025. 

    Congratulations to the Highlands Swim Girls 13-14 100M Medley Relay on their New Relay Record! 
    Congratulations to Highlands Swim swimmers Mackey Tolar (14), Rio Walther (14), Abbie Raymond (14), and Avery Caruth (13) on their record-setting time of 56.20 in the Girls 13-14 100M Medley Relay. They lowered the previous record of 57.33 set in 2019 by Chesterbrook swimmers Cate J Sheridan, Eli P Leonard, Patricia M Leonard, Caroline P Burgeson.

    Congratulations to the Overlee Mixed Age Girls 200M Freestyle Relay on their New Relay Record! 
    Congratulations to Overlee swimmers Samantha Bravery (12), Abigail Hartman (10), Sia Nicholakos (14), and McKinley Busen (15) on their record-setting time of 1:54.94 in the Mixed Age Girls 200M Freestyle Relay at Chesterbrook. They lowered the previous record of 1:55.96 set in 2017 by Tuckahoe swimmersC atherine Hughes, Danielle Hughes, Carolina Zubler, and Evie Gieseman.

     

  • Five NVSL Relay Carnival Records and Relay Carnival Recap

    Chesterbrook was a FAST pool on Wednesday night for the Division 1 Relay Carnival and the girls of Chesterbrook and Highlands Swim made the most of it with five League Records broken!

     
    Congratulations to the Chesterbrook Mixed Age Girls 200M Freestyle Relay on their New Relay Record! 
    Congratulations to Chesterbrook swimmers Lily Wilson (12), Kate Talbert (10), Ellie Hook(13) and McKenzie Cory (16) on their record-setting time of 1:54.58 in the Mixed Age Girls 200M Freestyle Relay. They lowered the previous record of 1:54.89 set in 2018 by Cardinal Hill swimmers Courtney Watts, Emma Watts, Margaret Shi, and Brynn Curtis.

    Congratulations to the Highlands Swim Girls 13-14 200M Medley Relay on their New Relay Record! 
    Congratulations to Highlands Swim swimmers Mackey Tolar (14), Rio Walther (14), Abbie Raymond (14), and Avery Caruth (13) on their record-setting time of 2:02.41 in the Girls 13-14 200M Medley Relay. They lowered the previous record of 2:03.87 set in 2023 by Fairfax swimmers Sadie Buckley, Lyla Devlin, Cally Codding, and Olivia Roca.

    Congratulations to the Chesterbrook Girls 15-18 200M Medley Relay on their New Relay Record! 
    Congratulations to Chesterbrook swimmers McKenzie Cory (16), Lilah Gallagher (15), Jackie Furches (16), and Lydia Foster (18) on their record-setting time of 1:58.94 in the Girls 15-18 200M Medley Relay. They lowered the previous record of 1:59.14 set in 2019 by Overlee swimmers Mary Kate Reicherter, Kayle Park, Kate Bailey, and Alexis Lee.

    Congratulations to the Highlands Swim Girls 13-14 200M Freestyle Relay on their New Relay Record! 
    Congratulations to Highlands Swim swimmers Mackey Tolar (14), Eva Vayra (13), Avery Caruth (13), and Rio Walther (14) on their record-setting time of 1:52.43 in the Girls 13-14 200M Freestyle Relay. They lowered the previous record of 1:52.66 set in 2025 by Overlee swimmers Violet Mullen, Aspasia Nicholakos, Alexandra Bristow, and McKinley Busen.

    Congratulations to the Chesterbrook Girls 15-18 200M Freestyle Relay on their New Relay Record! 
    Congratulations to Chesterbrook swimmers Lydia Foster (18), Aliyah Majeed-Hall (18), Jackie Furches (16), and McKenzie Cory (16) on their record-setting time of 1:48.96 in the Girls 15-18 200M Freestyle Relay. They lowered the previous record of 1:49.44 set in 2016 by Overlee swimmers Ellie Ridgeway, Katherine Lundy, Kayle Park, and Suzanne Dolan.
     

    Relay Carnival Recap
    With favorable weather for the evening, the 17 Divisions of the NVSL celebrated teamwork, the spirt of competition and great sportsmanship in Wednesday's Divisional Relay Carnivals. Congratulations to all Relay Carnival champions, and the NVSL wants to highlight a few who have not taken home the coveted trophy in 5 years or more. Congratulations to Country Club Hills and Mantua (last won in 2019), congratulations to Vienna Woods (last won in 2018) and congratulations to North Springfield (last won in 2006). Many team records are broken on Relay Carnival night, and several records were more than 30 years old, shouting out a few of them, way to go:
    Greenbrier, 9-10 girls medley relay
    Dominion Hills, Mixed Age boys relay
    Daventry, 11-12 girls medly relay
    Sully Station, 9-10 boys free relay
    Kent Gardens, 9-10 girls free relay. 

    We also want to acknowledge Division 10 for raising more than $2,000 on their Relay Carnival night for Sunrise Day Camp in Fairfax for children with cancer and their siblings.

The League received feedback about many of our Relay Carnival hosts who offered excellent venues and provded fabulous hospitality for the teams and competitors in their Divisional Relay Carnivals.
