  • Information for Individual All Star Meet

Thu, 7-25-2024 | NVSL Executive Board

We are now just days away from closing out the 2024 NVSL swim season with the Individual All Star Meet hosted by Pinecrest Swim and Tennis Club. What a season it has been! Here are some reminders for the meet with information and attachments linked below.

    PINECREST INFORMATION

The Pinecrest folder for Individual All Stars on the NVSL website (CLICK HERE TO ACCESS) contains lots of helpful information to prepare you, your coaches and your families for the meet. We will continue to accept scratches; please email your division coordinator and nvsltechnology@gmail.com. We recently added the PC CONCESSIONS MENU for Saturday -- please check it out and support our hosts by purchasing a breakfast burrito, cheeseburger, drink, snack or treat!

    POOL FAMILIARIZATION FRIDAY

Pool Familiarization will take place at Pinecrest on Friday from 7:00 to 11:00am. Please come by, take a look, pick up your team order, and pay for your happy ads. t's very helpful to get these team orders paid for and picked up prior to the meet on Saturday, thank you in advance for sending someone from your team.

There will be swimming allowed in the pool at Pinecrest for Pool Familiarization. Swimmers will have the opportunity to swim some laps, become familiar with the walls and take some starts. Please note that Pinecrest features a shallow depth at the start. In order to swim on Friday, swimmers will need to arrive as a team and a coach will have to check in with an NVSL representative. Teams will be given one 15 to 20 minute time slot to access the pool. There are no reserved time slots; please check in upon arrival. This is not to be used a team practice.

    TEAM AREAS

Team areas may NOT be set up in the Pinecrest field EARLIER THAN 7 AM Saturday morning. Tents and set up crews can be dropped off at the designated “Swimmer Drop-off Area” on Pinecrest Road adjacent to the PC Pool property.  Due to the limited space in the Team Area, we ask all teams to bring one 10 ft x 10 ft tent per 8 swimmers. For teams with 2 or less swimmers, they can use the “Single Swimmer Area.” All team areas will be assigned in advance and you will be escorted by a marshal to your assigned area upon arrival on Saturday.

    PARKING AND SWIMMER DROP OFF

Parking is available in the surrounding neighborhood and Fox Mill Elementary School. Please review the parking map on the NVSL website, which is found by clicking here: PARKING AND SWIMMER DROP OFF MAP. Be respectful of Pinecrest's neighbors; obey all parking signs and do not block driveways. Do NOT park in the Truist Bank or Heritage Fellowship church parking lots across Fox Mill Road. Vehicles will be towed at the owners' expense.

There will be one-way traffic on Pinecrest Rd from Viking Dr / Magna Carta Rd (please refer to the MAP). Plan to drop off your swimmer in front of the pool and field on Pinecrest Rd and return to the neighborhood by making a right on Fox Mill Rd then a right on John Milton Dr.

    SINGLE EVENT VIEWING

Viewing for this meet is single-event only; once your swimmer completes their race, you will exit the pool area to allow other families the same opportunity. Marshals will assist with single event viewing and we appreciate your cooperation with their instructions. There is very limited standing room only viewing on the side of the pool. Chairs are not allowed inside the pool fence.

Thank you for your help in making this a smooth meet.

    VOLUNTEERS

Thank you to the many teams across the league who have offered volunteers and supplies for the meet; thank you for your contributions. Volunteers will receive a separate communication later today (Thursday) with additional details. Please note reserved parking is limited and it may not be possible to give parking passes to all meet volunteers.

    LIVESTREAM

We will livestream the meet via the Machine Aquatics' YouTube page: CLICK HERE TO ACCESS. This is a great option for extended and out-of-town family members and anyone else who wants to cheer on your swimmers.

    AWARDS, PICTURES AND RESULTS

Immediately following their events, swimmers will receive their awards and have a group photo taken. Results will be posted on the pool grounds and to Meet Mobile. Following the meet, the results will be posted to the NVSL website.

    ---HOST APPRECIATION---

We are so grateful to the Pinecrest Swim and Tennis Club board, members, Piranhas swim team, and community for accepting the responsibility for hosting the 2024 Individual All Star Meet. It's a challenge to reimagine your deck and property for the hundreds of swimmers, coaches, family members and team tents that will fill the grounds on Saturday. We ask that all meet attendees be gracious and respectful guests for our hosts and volunteers.

Thank you to Rich, Billy, Bryan, John and the PC All Star committee for your work through the winter, spring and summer to make this meet a fun and successful conclusion to the 2024 season for the entire League.

    Chris Campbell and Amy Downey
