Paul O'Hara set a new NVSL record in the Boys 15-18 50M Freestyle in the dual meet against Dowden Terrace on 6/29/2013 held at the Hollin Meadows pool. In the dual meet, Hollin Meadows defeated Dowden Terrace 212 to 208 in a very close meet. The Barracudas move to 2-0 on the season and will face Dominion Hills which is 0-2 on the season next week at Dominion Hills.
Paul swam the 50M Freestyle event in 23.31 seconds bettering the previous NVSL record of 23.32 set by Stephen Scheren from Fairfax Station in 2005. Paul also set a new HM team record in the 50M Breaststroke going the distance in 31.13 seconds, bettering his previous mark set at time trials this year of 31.62 seconds.

Aidan Petretich and Paul O'Hara set new team records at time trials held on June 15, 2013. Aidan set a new mark in the Boys 8&Under 25M Backstroke with a time of 20.82 seconds bettering the mark set last year of 21.24 seconds by Cole Peverall.
Paul set two new marks. In the Boys 15-18 50M Breaststroke, Paul went 31.62 seconds to better his mark from two years ago of 32.37 seconds. In the Boys 15-18 50M Butterfly, Paul swam a 26.92 to beat his record setting time from last year of 27.54 seconds.

In the first dual meet of the 2013 season, the HM Barracudas defeated the team from Sideburn Run 236-183 on Saturday, June 22nd at the Sideburn Run pool. During the competition four new team records were set including two that lasted since the early 1990s. In the very first event, the Boys 8&Under 25M Freestyle Aidan Petretich tied the team record with a time of 17.27 seconds. The previous record was set back in 1990 by Jonathan Vanderhyde. A few events later Paul O'Hara broke his own record set last year in the 15-18 50M Freestyle. Paul's new record time was 23.54, eclipsing the time set at All Stars last year of 23.74 seconds. Paul continued the record setting tend by bettering another one of his record times in the 15-18 50M Backstroke going 28.34 seconds. The previous record set last year was 28.91 seconds. Finally Connor Breen broke the Boys 11-12 50M Butterfly record with a time of 33.50 second bettering the record of 33.95 seconds set in 1991 by Bob Bowman. Congratulations!
The Barracudas will be in action next Saturday, June 29th in a home contest against Dowden Terrace.
