|The Lake Braddock Lakers are searching for a new head coach for the 2019 NVSL season. The Lake Braddock Lakers are based in the Lake Braddock neighborhood of Burke, VA. Last
season, the Lakers consisted of approximately 170 swimmers, 45 of whom began the season in the developmental program.
The head coach will be required to hold their first aid certification, lifeguard certification, and pool operator’s license before the season begins. The Lakers will monetarily assist the head
coach if the individual is up for renewal or seeking those certifications for the first time. The Lakers believe in a hands-on coaching approach, employing a team of assistant and lane
coaches supplemented with volunteer coaches which requires a head coach to be willing and able to mentor and lead a group of younger coaches. The head coach will collaborate with, but
not necessarily be in charge of, the developmental program.
Head coach responsibilities include: 1) Developing a strategic daily, weekly, and seasonal practice plan for three different age groups of swimmers. Differing abilities of swimmers should
also be considered. 2) With key coaching staff and a representative of the swim team, develop a weekly meet sheet for the Lakers. 3) Attend social activities including, but not limited to,
weekly pep rallies and post-meet meals. 4) Coach during both A-Meets and B-Meets. This includes post race feedback for swimmers and pre-race advice. 5) Be a good role model for
Applicants should also have a deep knowledge of all four strokes, be familiar with the USA Swimming and NVSL rules, be strong communicators, and be organized.
Individuals with head coaching experience preferred, but all applicants will be considered.
