Coach Wanted
Team Holmes Run Acres
Job Title Head Swim Coach - 2024 Summer Season
Job Description
The Holmes Run Hurricanes are seeking a Head Coach for Summer 2024. The Hurricanes is a team of about 150 swimmers who participated in the NVSL Division 10 last summer. We are a tight-knit community that values teamwork, good sportsmanship, individual accomplishment, and spirit.

The Head Coach will lead 3-hour afternoon practices from May 28, 2024 – June 12, 2024, transitioning to morning practices on June 13, 2024 – July 19, 2024. We also hold a 1-hr evening practice on Tuesdays/Thursdays during June/July. The Head Coach will be aided by an Assistant Coach and 6-8 Junior (teen) coaches. The Coach will report to (and work closely with) the Team Representatives, who are appointed by the Pool Board to manage the day-to-day affairs of the swim team.

Practices will have a wide focus: many swimmers are new to the sport and gaining confidence in swimming unassisted 25y. Others are “barely legal” and will need instruction on stroke proficiency and development. Our more experienced swimmers will still benefit from technical instruction, encouragement, and conditioning. Practice sessions are divided by age (8 and unders, 9-12 year olds, 13 and olders) with differing abilities within the age groups. The Head Coach should be comfortable coaching all skill levels.

In addition to coaching, the Head Coach will be responsible for selecting swimmers for competitive meets, both for Saturday morning NVSL Dual Meets and for Divisional Relay Carnival. The Head Coach should attend all practices, is encouraged to participate in team social activities, and is required to attend Monday evening B Meets, Relay Carnival, IM Carnival, Mini Meets for 10 & youngers, Saturday morning A Meets, Divisional Championships, and any NVSL All Star Meets that our HRA swimmers will participate in.

Other qualifications include:
- Lifeguard certification.
- First Aid certification.
- Pool Operator License (Swim Team will reimburse)
- Experience with the NVSL, either as a previous swimmer, coach, Team Rep, or parent
