Job Title Assistant Head Swim Coach(s) - 2023 Season
Job Description

The Hunt Valley Stingrays are currently accepting applications for Assistant Head Swim Coach(s) for the summer 2023 season. The Stingrays are a Swim Team based off Sydenstricker Road in Springfield, Virginia.  Our summer swim program is geared for swimmers of all abilities, ranging from new swimmers to year-long swimmers, ages 5-18.  We typically have around 200 swimmers participating throughout the summer season. Summer 2022, the stingrays competed in NVSL Division 3 and we anticipate to remain in the same division for the 2023 season.

Hunt Valley is seeking 1-2 Assistant Head Coach(s) who can assist in the implementation of effective swim instruction, assist in all daily practices that fit all ages and abilities, be able to effectively communicate with and manage lane coaches, swimmers, and parents, and provide a safe and fun environment throughout the swim season. 

Experience:

- Previous coaching experience in a competitive environment
- Experience in coaching a team with swimmers of various age levels and swimming abilities.
- Experience working with other coaches.
- Familiarity with the NVSL is preferred.


Responsibilities:

- Assist the Head Coach in planning and implementing daily swim practice routines (dry land and in-water) for swimmers of all ages and abilities.
- Assist the Head Coach in selecting swimmers to participate in all meets and assist in any meet sheet preparation.
- Conduct and lead team practices under the direction of the Head Coach. When the Head Coach is unable to attend practice, the ability to lead the team and practices in their absence.
- Assist in making decisions on which events swimmers are entered according to NVSL and greater Springfield/Burke development league rules.
- Provide in-water swimming instruction when applicable.
- Provide an inclusive environment by working with swimmers of all abilities.
- Be available to meet with the Head Coach and parents upon request.
- Maintain communication with the Head Coach and Swim Team Reps as to the attendance, progress and abilities of the swimmers.
- Foster a spirit of teamwork and sportsmanship.
- Attend all swim meets, meetings and events: 

    - Monday Night Swim meets – 5 meets
    - Wednesday Night Invitational Meets – 2 meets
    - Saturday Morning Swim Meets – 7 Meets and a Time Trial
    - Tuesday Night Seeding Meetings
    - Monday Night Seed Meeting (for relay carnival and Divisionals)
    - Friday Night Pep Rallies
    - Swim Banquet

Requirements:

- Currently possess or are currently in the process of obtaining certification in safety training for swim coaching, CPR & First Aid
- Currently possess a pool operator license or have a willingness to obtain one at the direction and expense of the swim team prior to the start of the season.
