Developmental Swim Coach

Location: Parklawn Piranhas, Alexandria, Virginia

Position Summary

The Parklawn Piranhas is seeking a high-energy, kid-friendly, developmental/technical coach for its summer swim team! 

Although a competitive team, we pride ourselves in being a neighborhood pool that promotes community and a love of swimming.  We want to encourage a love of swimming and develop swimmers at whatever level they start to become technically strong in all four strokes. 

The Developmental Coach will be responsible for the 10&Unders (and a few older swimmers) that are learning and/or mastering the four strokes to be legal. They should be experienced, be high energy, able to motivate swimmers to achieve their goals, and be the team’s biggest cheerleader.

Essential Job Tasks

- Create an educational, fun, safe and inviting experience for younger swimmers learning to master the four strokes

- Develop swim workouts and ensure coaching staff are capable of executing plan for younger swimmers and those learning

- Provide in water instruction and demonstration of proper swim technique

- Attend all swim meets, providing developmental feedback and encouragement to all swimmers

- Participate in all Swim Team activities

- Initiate, develop and maintain positive relationships with swimmers

- Provide mentorship and guidance to coaching staff

-- Coaching membership in good standing with USA Swimming

- Red Cross Lifeguard certified

- Provides a safe, clean and organized pool area during practices

Education / Experience / Qualifications

- Swim coaching experience

-Competitive Swim experience

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Salary Range: Salary range $4,000.00 to $6,000; multiyear contract negotiable
