Sideburn Run Sharks Swim Team Summer 2023 Head Coach
The Sideburn Run Swim Team is looking for a head coach to lead our team of Sharks for the summer of 2023.
The Sideburn Run Sharks swim team competed last summer in Division 11 and ended with a winning record. We are a smaller but mighty team that has grown immensely since the pandemic. This past year we had a team of 130 swimmers with several swimmers making All Stars and three All Star relay teams.
Our ideal candidate will be energetic, positive, and willing to focus on all levels of swimmers. The head coach will be assisted by one assistant coach and 2-3 junior coaches.
Our evening practices begin the day after Memorial Day, run from 445-745p Monday through Friday, and continue until Fairfax County Public School concludes. Practices then move to the mornings from 8-11a Monday through Friday. Meets are held Monday evenings and Saturday mornings with Relay Carnivals two Wednesday nights during the summer season.
Our team also has a very popular developmental Lil Shark program that starts the first day of morning practices, runs 11-1130a Monday through Friday, and culminates with our very popular Lollipop Meet. This program will be under the supervision of the head coach.
Previous NVSL coaching experience
Experience in seeding meets
Experience managing others
Excellent communication skills
CPR and First Aid Certified
Pool Operator Certificate (if not currently certified, will obtain at the team's expense)
Create practice workout: all four strokes, starts, turns, and finishes
Seed all meets
Provide constructive feedback to all swimmers
Provide guidance and feedback to assistant and junior coaches
Stress the importance of teamwork and team spirit
Interact with parents, swimmers, fellow coaches, and team reps in a professional manner
Be a positive role model
Maintain frequent and open communication with team representatives
